Mozambique is considered one of the poorest and least developed countries in the world. In fact, 55% of their total population lives below the poverty line of $1.25 per day. 2 million children are orphans, and 90 out of 1,000 children don’t make it to their 5th birthday. Soapbox is able to help the Sunshine Approach Foundation purchase soap in Mozambique to support the local community soap makers and also provide soap for orphans in the area.
Partner Details
The Sunshine Approach Foundation is involved in the care of orphans and vulnerable children by providing for the needs of local orphanages (food, uniforms, soap, etc.) as well as developing a new concept of creating Sunshine Houses for orphaned children where the children are raised in a family environment by a Mozambican woman in the community. We are also involved in caring for the farming communities from which the Sunshine Nut Company buys its cashews. They work closely with local child welfare agencies and committees for women and girls in all of their efforts to ensure local sustainability.
